“Love is the only label that never goes out of style,” according to Carrie Bradshaw of the hit TV and movie series, “Sex and the City.” It’s definitely a hot topic as we transition into summer. Being surrounded by love, I began to think about my love life and the fact that I’ve been on two dates in the last two years and haven’t been off the market since my junior year in high school. Living single has taught me a lot about love and life. For now, I’ll focus on the latter.

I can remember a time when I would be happy to sit in the living room with my dad watching Walker Texas Ranger or Law and Order with little conversation. Quality time is my primary love language, and that was our version of it. Although he’s been a father for more than two decades, his parenting skills and our relationship still get better with time. The father I have today is the best one I’ve ever had, and that gives me hope that spreads into many other areas of my life. In honor of Father’s Day, I think it’s only fitting to share some of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned from my dad throughout the last 25 years of my life.

With the rise of social media from the Myspace era into modern day Insta-everything, there’s a lot of sharing happening- information, photos, experiences, frustrations, fears, failures- life. Instagram engages a community of more than 800 million individuals around the globe. Although I’m active on several apps, IG is the one I use the most. As a blogger and communications professional, its challenging to escape social media.

Whether working out every day, for special occasions or once a year, most people follow some of the same routines for every sweat session. Hydration, music and pre/post stretching are common elements. After implementing a few more, I felt my time at the gym improved. Now these practices have become rituals I never leave out.
