According to a Forbes article I read recently 80% of the population has anxiety or discomfort in relation to public speaking while only 10% enjoy it. The other 10% hate it and suffer from glossophobia: fear of public speaking. One of my favorite responsibilities during my career at Inland Empire United Way was sharing the work being done to impact the lives of individuals, children and families in the region. I was always excited to serve as a guest speaker or lead tours of the facilities. While I thoroughly enjoy opportunities to speak, it still gives me a little anxiety, and there’s always room for improvement, which is why I decided to join Toastmaster’s International.
I discovered Toastmaster’s through IEUW and jumped at the opportunity when my supervisor presented it. After transitioning to TGR Foundation I continued my involvement, and each week on “Toastmaster Tuesday” I get the opportunity to practice and improve my skills. If you hadn’t heard of it before, now you have, and I invite you to join a network of more than 350K members worldwide.

Outside of praise and worship, stories and scriptures from the Bible, sermons at Abundant Living Family Church each week are shaped and flavored by personal experiences from leaders in ministry. Every time I attend or stream a service I enjoy hearing from pastors and servants in the church who share their life and faith with application of the word, transparency and the Power of God - the father, son and spirit. Our senior pastor, Diego Mesa, has seen life in many elements and shares his stories with humor, faith, inspiration, conviction and most importantly - love. Here are instructions spoken from the stage of ALFC to empower and activate you in this moment and beyond.

Three years later, I was finally able to pick up a copy and dive in. Although I was expecting a “tell-all” of the couple’s relationship and happy marriage, I didn’t get that. What I did get was much more fulfilling.

On Wednesday, August 15 more than 100 women entered the Lincoln Experience Center in Newport Beach, CA for an event described to be “uniquely female.” Combining networking, wine sipping, food tasting and engaging dialogue, a local panel presented by Orange County United Way and Bank of America gathered a diverse group with one goal, empowerment.
As three women took over the stage to take on the topic of branding, their words were met with head nods, laughter and internal reflection.
